Sharon Ybarra Profile Photo

Sharon Ybarra was born in 1939 in Long Beach, California. During her childhood, she moved throughout Southern California and attended several schools before graduating from Canoga Park High School in 1957. She was an active member of The Order of the Eastern Star, following in the footsteps of her parents, who were also deeply involved in the organization.

In 1959, Sharon married Michael Ybarra, beginning a partnership that lasted 61 years. Together, they raised two children, Michael and Sheri, in Canoga Park, California. Over the years, Sharon and Michael made their homes in Lake Los Angeles, California; Longmont, Colorado; Kingman, Arizona; and, for the past several years, North Las Vegas, Nevada. Sharon was very active in the Kingman Auxiliary, where she found great fulfillment helping veterans.

Sharon dedicated much of her life to her family as a homemaker, while also working outside the home. She was an "Avon Lady" for many years. She was also employed by Practical Management and Voluntary Planning, and for a time worked in the cafeteria of the junior high school located across the street from her family home on Nita Avenue in Canoga Park.

A creative and nurturing person, Sharon loved sewing and made countless dance costumes, Halloween outfits, and even a Santa suit. She enjoyed baking, gardening, and saving silly cartoons along with favorite recipes. She loved to travel and camp and was especially happy riding in her son's truck.

Sharon was known for staying closely connected with family and friends. Gracious and welcoming, she was a wonderful host who loved having company. She was always willing to help others and often opened her home to friends or family in need of a place to stay.

Her faith was a quiet but powerful presence throughout her life. Sharon loved God deeply and leaned on His love for comfort and strength. Her inward faith guided her and remained important to her always. She adored angels and kept many around her home and garden.

Sharon is survived by her daughter Sheri and her husband Dave; her daughter-in-law, Stephanie; her grandchildren Trevor, Sara, Erik, Shelby, and Sydney; and her great-grandchildren Emma, Brayden, Ornella, and Oneill.
