Lonnette Mcfarland

Lonnette was born in Leavenworth, Kansas, to Charmain McFarland & Alvin Smith . She was a proud graduate of Leavenworth High School, where her love for basketball truly shined. A gifted athlete, Lonnette's passion and talent for the game were undeniable. She played with such skill and confidence that she could run circles around anyone-men included-which earned her the nickname that stayed with her for life: Nothing but Net. She admired Kobe Bryant and carried his competitive spirit with her both on and off the court.

One of Lonnette's greatest joys was becoming a mother. She gave birth to a beautiful son, Langston McFarland, whose name was chosen to honor Black excellence and legacy. Her love for Langston was deep, fierce, and unwavering.

Lonnette lived boldly and fully. She was outspoken, adventurous, spontaneous, and filled with boundless energy. She loved to sing, dance, laugh, and bring life to every room she entered. Over the years, she formed friendships all across the country and made lasting impressions everywhere she went. She embraced life through basketball games, concerts, cruises, great food, and especially the West Coast lifestyle she adored. One of her proudest moments was having the opportunity to meet her lifelong idol, Janet Jackson.

Those who knew Lonnette will always remember her for three things most: her goofy personality, her love for basketball, and the deep love she had for her son Langston and her baby sister, Ambrea.

Lonnette was preceded in death by her mother, Charmain McFarland; her grandmother, Esther; her uncle Leroy, Uncle Lonnie, Grandma Mae, Uncle William and Aunt Hazel.

She is survived by her father Alvin; Her beloved son; Langston, her sister younger sister; Ambrea, along with a host of loving cousins, God Children, and many others who will forever cherish her memory.

Lonnette's light, laughter, and love will continue to live on through all who were blessed to know her.
