Conrad William Sulzen Sr.

Conrad William Sulzen, Sr., 93, of North Las Vegas, NV, originally of Kansas City, KS, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2026, in the home of his son, Tim and family in North Las Vegas, NV. Conrad was born November 4, 1932 in Kansas City, KS to Francis and Evelyn (Byard) Sulzen.

A 1950 graduate of Bishop Ward High School, he pursued his love of engines, becoming skilled at working on anything with wheels, especially motorcycles. He was the first in his family to get a motorcycle, riding it to high school every day. He shared his love of them by giving rides to family and friends all throughout the neighborhood. He was also a talented musician, playing in local bands. He tried playing a wide variety of instruments, such as the bass violin and lap steel guitar and would help other bands to tune their stringed instruments by ear. He learned how to dance while he was serving in the army, where he ended up earning the first prize in his class. He continued to dance until late in his life, driving many miles to the dance of the day, dancing square dances and round dances.

Conrad was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Evelyn Sulzen; his siblings, Teresa Martell and Kenneth Sulzen; and by his son, Conrad Jr. Soon after his death, his closest sibling, Juanita Wohletz died, July 20, 2026.

Survivors include his daughter, Sandra (Ron) Diehl and son, Tim (Heather) Sulzen; 7 grandchildren: Alan (Lindsey) Diehl, Jesi (Jason) Bingham, Leann (Trevor) Bailey, Bennett (Amy) Diehl, Curtis Diehl, Darrick (Ashley) Diehl and Carissa Sulzen; and 19, almost 20 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings: Mary Hartman, Paul Sulzen, Leland (Judy) Sulzen, Bill (Barbara) Sulzen, Kay (Larry) Demaree, Ann Smith, David (Debbie) Sulzen, and Don (Mathias) Sulzen; and his many nieces/nephews, great-nieces/nephews and great-great-nieces/nephews.

The Funeral Memorial Mass will be held Sat, August 29, 2026 at St. Mary-St. Anthony Catholic Church, 615 N. 7th Street, Kansas City, KS, at 9:00 a.m.

Graveside services being held afterwards at 10 a.m. at Mt. Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel 1150 N. 38th Street, Kansas City, KS.
